About Society
ST. MARY’S EDUCTIONAL & SOCIAL WELFARE SOCIETY was established on 18th of February 1994 as a unit of Anglican Church with aim to reform the Church with different forms of social activities to reflect the love of Jesus Christ. It is primarily for the welfare of the Christian Community, the down trodden, unaccepted and socially neglected mankind to give them a feeling of acceptance, love and protection. The organization is also become a centre of research to find out the causes of these evil and find out the method to review such evil tendencies of the society which are ruining our society. It also develops the feeling that everyone has been created by God “in his own image” that he has implanted equals talents in everyone and their physical disability, social insecurity and mental inefficiency cannot be a bar to be a vital part of the society.
The foundation stone of St. Mary’s School, the 1st unit of St. Mary’s Educational & Social Welfare Society was laid on 14th of April 1994 by the Governor of U.P. Shri Motilal Vohra on the outskirts of the city of Lucknow in Para Village. The school started functioning by 18th of July 1994 with a Primary enrollment of 59 students. The building was constructed with the financial help of the Anglican Church.
The school has increased year-by-year in its building and its enrolments. Today school has 3 storied building with a different administrative, computer and other blocks. The classes have gone upto 12th Standard and is recognized by the ICSE Board, New Delhi.
St. Mary’s School has become the centre of other social activities too in year 1996. Society established its 2nd unit of Girls Orphanage, in the beginning there were 3 girls and as the year passed the number of the orphans increased. The society could accommodate only 35 female child. When it increases more then we send the new member in the St. Martins orphanage at Nagpur.
In year 1998 the St. Mary’s Educational & Social Welfare Society had started different educational and technical programmes in the campus of St. Mary’s School. It conducts women literacy programme, AAA programmes and other programmes. The women of the villages are encouraged to come every evening. They are given the basic formal education and classes on other useful subjects like health and hygiene, population control, etc.
Night classes are conducted for adults so that they may be able to read and write and fill up all the forms of their necessities and write applications.
In September 2004 St. Mary’s Educational & Social Welfare Society opened a Free Diploma Course in Computer Education. The Orphen, Village and other childrens who cannot afford the expensive computer courses are being given computer education in this wing.
The society realised in these eleven years that society is not been able to do justice in his work. Now it has decided to further increase its potency to intervene in the other important social programmes too. The society is planning to establish a school for multiple handicaps, a high-tech hospital, old age home and orphanage for boys & girls and also open a research center to know the cause of these evils like giving away a child to orphanage. Neglecting elders by their childrens and getting read of mentally retarded and handicapped children and to find out the means and methods to uproot these evils to create a better world to live in where love of Christ is reflected and Satyam Shivam Sundaram is felt
